He said this after the delivery of this year’s tuition assistance totaling K710,000 last Friday at the Moresby South Fitness Centre.

MP Tkatchenko said for the 2023 academic year they will start early in organizing training courses, education systems, subsidies, FODE and other education programs over the next coming months.

South Side Facilities Undergo Upgrade

“Our priority and most important is to take ownership and look after the facilities as it will benefit the sportsmen and women and the communities in Moresby South.

“These facilities are not only for sports but also for other community related activities and programmes,” says Tkatchenko.

The Member’s Office has released budget allocation of K500,000 annually for community sports to the three local level government wards 2, 3 and 4 assist in sports development, coordination and organizing the events.

MP Lauds Performance

Both teams played well into the final play-offs at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium. Tkatchenko said even though the Moresby South teams lost their respective matches, he was impressed with as they come out as runners up.

Waidex lost in the Pepsi Cup finals to TI Vikings 36- 25 while in the bowl Stingrays went down to Kone Tornados 8-4.  

It was a close first half with Waidex trailing 18- 19 but let the game slip off in the second half to the opposition scoring 18 points to 7 going down by 11 margin.  

Tkatchenko Stops Eviction

He made this remark during the presentation of acquittals for Moresby South electorate recently, Minister Tkatchenko said there will not be any more evictions.

He said according to NHC Managing Director, Henry Mokono has made it clear that those living in the NHC properties are living there Free of Charge.

“I have stopped the eviction process from occurring because at the end of the day we are dealing with people and their welfare. The department is trying to do what’s best for the people and the department,” said Minister Tkatchenko.

Minister for Housing, Justin Tkatchenko and NHC Managing Director, Henry Mokono signed the MoAs with the first selected developer, Chinese Steel Estate Company and second developer, PNG Resources Corporation to finally kick start the low cost housing project that the government has committed to all Papua New Guineans.

Moresby South Hopeful for Digicel Cup

He says the management team of Moresby South is slowly but surely working with PNG National Rugby League in ensuring that all boxes are ticked in order to have a team in the Digicel cup.

With all policies and regulations of PNGNRL being followed and MSRFL having its league programs secured for both men’s and women’s and development pathways, Patron Justin Tkatchenko says MSRL is on track to have a representation in the Digicel Cup.                                                                      

Partnership making it happen

And as his motto goes, ‘Partnerships making it happen’, Mr Tkatchenko was at hand to partner with the major donor BMZ, a German Ministry funding to help the institution.

This will be built within the premises of the Daughters of Mary help of Christian Sisters next to the Don Bosco Technical Institute at East Boroko.

The MHCTI has been secluded from the public eye, but it will not be anymore as it will soon be building a new training facility to enroll young girls to receive technical vocational education.

Moresby South MP Thanked Sponsor

The Moresby South MP and biggest supporter of the Moresby South Motu-Koita Netball Tournament Justin Tkatchenko has thanked Swire Shipping for coming onboard to support a local tournament with much needed sporting gear.

He said it's great to see the business community coming on board in supporting these sporting activities through the Moresby South Office.

MP Defends Mass Eviction Call

Justin Tkatchenko emphasised his call after the Governor for Central, Robert Agarobe, took to social media, criticising the MP for not allowing the people of Goilala living in his electorate to participate in development initiatives in Moresby South.

Tkatchenko said: “Enough is enough. I made an announcement on Friday that we will remove and evict problem makers in Moresby South. I stand by that.”

NHC officers to be suspended

Tkatchenko said they have found out that two of the officers were behind the recent unauthorised evictions in Lae.

Numerous evictions involving National Housing Corporation properties have been conducted over the years.

For Morobe, it is believed that over 15 families have been affected.
