Japanese Development Institute (JDI)

In this morning’s session opener, Papua New Guinean was given the opportunity to listen from Japan’s independent think-tank and consulting firm, the Japanese Development Institute (JDI) Chairman Dr Shoichi Kobayashi.

Dr Kobayashi outlined the definition of Special Economic Zones & Global Trend and the experiences of special economic zones throughout the world.

Minister for International Trade and Investment, Richard Maru said JDI, has been assessing possible SEZ sites over six months, and they will recommend how to move forward with the SEZ licensing.

Minister for International Trade & Industry Richard Maru said the Ministry has been working with the JDI to do assessment on the proposed Special Economic Zone sites. They have since visited 21 sites in six months.
