Pukpuks downed after much-deserved win

PNG sevens managed to put 14 points on the scoreboard but it wasn’t enough to Canada’s 31 points.

Gairo Kapana and Willie Tirang were the two try scorers for the PNG Pukpuks against Canada today as the HSBC Sydney sevens wound down today.

Canada ran in five tries to the Pukpuks’ two converted tries but Pukpuks never seemed to falter throughout the game.

The Aroma speedster made sure he contributed with a try to his name against the Canadians.

PNG Pukpuks defeated in first match

PNG Pukpuks were pooled against the toughest teams of the HSBC world sevens series, including South Africa and England.

PNG Pukpuks have come into this HSBC Sydney sevens series with nothing to lose. These guys have earned their spots in the world sevens series circuit fair and square.

The defending champs, South Africa, played like the real champs they were in the first half, putting three tries on the Papua New Guineans in quick succession.

HSBC Sydney Sevens schedules out

Palais will face France, Australia and Spain while the PNG Pukpuks are pooled against South Africa, England and Spain.

The full match schedules for both the men's and women's HSBC Sydney Sevens 2018 have been released with 28 teams set to compete across three action-packed days on 26-28 January.

Fans will be treated to 79 matches as the Allianz Stadium plays host to Sydney's biggest festival of rugby across Australia Day weekend.
