Head teachers, principals and managers of various schools in NCD also joined the guests at Hagara Primary.

They included the Heads of the Investment Promotion Authority, PNG Sports Foundation, The National AIDS Council, Accident Investigation Commission, Small and Medium Enterprise Corporation, Conservation & Environment Protection Authority and the West New Britain Provincial Administrator.

Lady Hannah Dadae succumbs to illness

Acting Official Secretary Bill Toraso has confirmed that Lady Hannah passed away from a short illness at around 2pm yesterday afternoon, Tuesday 4h December, 2018, in Brisbane, Australia.

Lady Hannah had been receiving medical treatment for the past three months when she succumbed to her illness.

Lady Hannah was a teacher by profession and had taught in schools throughout Morobe Province for 29 years before retiring a few years ago.

GG welcomes two Heads of Missions

They include the High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to PNG, Martha Mavrommati; and Ambassador of the Republic of Chile, Patricio Powell Osorio.

The Governor General received their credentials in Port Moresby.

Welcoming the Cyprus High Commissioner to PNG, Grand Chief Sir Bob said they are pleased to receive her and look forward to enhancing the already good bilateral relations between PNG and Cyprus since formally establishing diplomatic relations forty years ago.

Pride of PNG Awards launched

The 11th Pride of PNG Awards for Women for 2018 was launched in Port Moresby yesterday (June 18).

The Pride of PNG Awards for Women is dedicated to recognising the efforts of unsung heroes; of women who are not well known yet their work, dedication and commitment to drive change touches the multitude they come in contact with.

Women are central to developing successful economies and stable societies, and the awards give them a voice and an opportunity to tell their stories of bravery and sacrifice.

PNG Diplomats commended

Governor General, Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae, said this during a courtesy call by PNG diplomats to Government House on Thursday, a first such visit.

The Governor General also expressed his well wishes to the heads of state of the countries represented by our foreign diplomats, for their continued health and well-being and for prosperity and closer ties between our countries.

“I want to thank you all for the important role you all play in representing our country overseas.

Governor General commends police department

 

Grand Chief Sir Bob remarked that police personnel play an important role in ensuring the safety and security of the public and international visitors alike; however, in order for them to carry out their duties, it is imperative that their living conditions are improved and the services of retired servicemen recognized.

The Governor General made these remarks to the Member for Gazelle and Minister for Police, Jelta Wong who paid a courtesy call on the Governor General at Government House on Thursday morning.

GG Visits Bomana prisoners

 

This was the first time for the Governor General to visit the Bomana prison hence his visit was well received by the Correctional Service hierarchy and inmates serving time at Bomana prison.

A Correctional Service guard of honour parade was held for the Governor General during which the Governor General acknowledged the work of the Correctional Service staff and officers urging them to continue the positive work they do to remand prisoners in their care.
