PNG Diplomats commended

PNG heads of Foreign missions have been commended for promoting bilateral, trade and economic relations in countries they are accredited too.

Governor General, Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae, said this during a courtesy call by PNG diplomats to Government House on Thursday, a first such visit.

The Governor General also expressed his well wishes to the heads of state of the countries represented by our foreign diplomats, for their continued health and well-being and for prosperity and closer ties between our countries.

“I want to thank you all for the important role you all play in representing our country overseas.

“Many Papua New Guineans aspire to represent our nation so to be in the position you are in is a privilege.

“Know that we appreciate what you do on behalf of our country in promoting trade and investment opportunities between our countries so continue the good work you do when your return to your respective postings,” Grand Chief, Sir Bob said.

The Governor General acknowledged High Commissioner to United Kingdom, Winnie Kiap, and High Commissioner to Malaysia, Peter Vincent, for their warm hospitality during his visit to London last year.

“Thank you for taking good care of us and for ensuring our trip was a success. For the other countries I have not traveled to, I look forward to seeing you in your respective postings when the opportunity arises,” Grand Chief Sir Bob said.

The visit also marks the first anniversary of Sir Dadae since being sworn into office as the 10th Governor General last year.
