Officials seek motive, cause of death in 'Baby Doe' case

The toddler was identified as Bella Bond on Friday, almost three months after her remains were found in a trash bag that washed up on a Boston Harbor beach.

At a news conference Friday, Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley said he authorized a murder charge for Michael McCarthy, 35, and the girl's mother, Rachelle Bond, 40, for accessory to murder after the fact.

Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley, State Police Superintendent Col. Richard McKeon and Winthrop Police Chief Terence Delehanty announced the new measures Wednesday.

"Someone knows her. To that person, we know that for whatever reason you have not come forward yet. But surely you know the right thing to do," McKeon said. "Examine your conscience and look into your heart and do the right thing for this little girl."
