Bulldogs

Dogs looking for Pay day

However, the club hasn't taken long to move on, announcing Pay as their new coach two days after he was interviewed.

"The Bulldogs have a great history and tradition and I'm looking forward to the chance to work with a talented group of players, where respect and discipline will be the cornerstones of how we go about our business," Pay said in a club statement.

Pay, 48, takes on more than your standard head coach role as the club searches for on-field success - the last of their eight NRL titles was in 2004, after losing the 2012 and 2014 grand finals.

Defence key to Panthers win

Their fourth win on the trot was typical of a side coming off a five-day turnaround and the Panthers stayed in control for most of the contest despite a low-scoring affair.

Penrith kept the Bulldogs scoreless in the second half before nabbing two late tries through Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Tyrone Peachey to seal another much-needed win and edge closer to the top eight.

"We are obviously defending well and that gives you a lot of confidence. But you only defend well if your attitude is right," Griffin said post-game.

Broncos hammer hapless Bulldogs

Two tries in the final four minutes of the first half gave Brisbane a 16-6 advantage but the key period was between the 53rd and 68th minutes when the Bulldogs' only touch of the football was Josh Reynolds spilling an Anthony Milford kick from point-blank range as the Broncos piled on 18 points to take complete control of the contest.

Foran ruled out of Bulldogs clash

Foran has succumbed to a quad injury, replaced by Ata Hingano in Stephen Kearney's game-day 19-man squad which will take on Foran's future NRL club at Mt Smart Stadium.

Foran's impending move to Belmore coincided with Reynolds taking up a rich four-year deal with the Wests Tigers, with the fiery playmaker stung at having to leave his junior club.

The showdown had promised plenty of feeling however it has been robbed of its headline act.

Kieran Foran reportedly signs with the Bulldogs

The Warriors playmaker will move to Belmore next year after one season across the ditch.

News Limited and Seven News are both reporting that the Kiwi Test player is finalising the details of his new contract and a formal announcement will be made over the next week.

It is understood Foran is moving back to be closer to his young children.

The 26-year-old rejected offers from Melbourne, Newcastle and the Tigers to re-unite with Hasler, who coached Foran to a premiership in 2011.

Rabbitohs smash lacklustre Bulldogs

In a lacklustre performance that will surely worry players and fans alike, the Bulldogs were outclassed 28-10 by a South Sydney side playing for nothing more than pride.

Jackson and Saifiti charged

Saifiti was cited for a grade one dangerous contact for a tackle on Dragons' forward Tyson Frizell, but will not miss any matches if he pleads guilty.

Jackson was slapped with a grade one dangerous thrown on Tevita Pangai, but will be free to play against the Roosters next week if he takes the early plea.

Garvey relishing short utility stints

After an opportunity with the Raiders fell through late last year, Garvey headed to the Bulldogs where he set out to carve himself a first grade bench spot.

His opportunity at the club came quicker than expected when he was drafted in at hooker for Michael Lichaa in the Bulldogs' Round 2 clash with Penrith.

Since Lichaa's return from a knee injury, Garvey has featured on the interchange three times in a utility role and has come on in short bursts – something he's still getting his head around in the aftermath of his 19-minute stint against the Roosters.

Bulldogs pounce to tame Tigers

There were scary scenes in the 23rd minute when Tigers hooker Robbie Farah was stretchered from the field after his head collided with Josh Reynolds' hip before slamming into the ANZ Stadium turf as he went to the ground. The State of Origin representative was taken to hospital but early reports from the Tigers were that the 32-year-old was conscious and moving.

Bulldogs skipper James Graham celebrated his 100th NRL game with a typically busy performance running for 167 metres and making 38 tackles while David Klemmer ran for a whopping 204 metres.

Tigers crush Bulldogs in Holden Cup

The Tigers held a slender 6-4 lead at the break but came out firing in the second half with six straight tries to stay within three points of competition leader the Panthers.

The Tigers headed into the game averaging just over 42 points over the past five weeks and it didn't take long for their much-vaunted attack to click into gear against the Bulldogs.

Fresh off a two-try haul and 252 metres against the Rabbitohs in Round 9, fullback Luke Sharpe continued his impressive form with a huge left-foot step leading to the game's opening try.
