Australian Wallabies

Eddie Jones resigns as Wallabies coach

Jones's imminent departure comes after a disastrous World Cup campaign in which the Wallabies failed to make the quarterfinals for the first time in history.

During his second stint in charge, Australia won only two of nine Tests in 2023.

Asked on Sunday if he had resigned, Jones replied that it was "not far away", with the paperwork with Rugby Australia surrounding his release set to be signed.

RA said late on Sunday they were not in a position to comment.

Koroibete breaks his silence over Wallabies selection

No more than three weeks ago, Koroibete lined up for the Storm on NRL grand final day, with the knowledge he would be making the switch to the 15-man code at the conclusion of the game.

Wallabies coach Michael Cheika faced significant criticism for selecting the former winger this week, despite his clear lack of experience in rugby union.

Now, the man himself has opened up on the saga.

Wallaby penalised for hit on opposition physio

The peculiar incident happened when Australian halfback Nick Phipps went to collect a ball tossed to him by a ballboy, only for the Argentinian physio to decide he wanted a piece of the action.

Phipps took exception, giving the bloke a shove - with Australia eventually copping a penalty.

Unconvincing Wallabies seal second place in Rugby Championship

The Wallabies returned to the scene of their Rugby World Cup semi-final win over the Pumas and the defeat to New Zealand in the final knowing victory would see them finish as runners-up following South Africa's 57-15 loss to the All Blacks.

In the first Rugby Championship match to be played outside of the four core territories, centre Kerevi, who scored his first international try in the reverse fixture in Perth last month, was the difference in seeing off a spirited Argentina side.

When the thunder starts, you have to be ready for it, says Cheika

Michael Cheika apparently did not have much of a sidestep when he was a straightforward, bruising number eight in his playing days but Australia’s coach has developed a pretty nifty one behind the coach’s microphone.

With the hype before the Wallabies' match with England on Saturday set to reach stratospheric levels, Cheika demonstrated on Tuesday a light diplomatic touch which enabled him to dance round the verbal hand grenades being chucked his way at a news conference.
