Our girls claimed third spot behind Fiji and winners New Zealand after their 1-1 draw with Samoa in the last match of the Championship yesterday.
PNG were given a 12-0 beating on day one but bounced back with a 7-0 win over New Caledonia three days later. PNG continued their winning ways on match day three, brushing off Tonga 4-1.
PNG were handed their second loss at the hands of their Melanesian counterparts Fiji, going down 3-2.
On the goal scoring front, PNG’s Nicollete Ageva finished fourth with four to her name. New Zealand’s Emma Main topped the tally with 11 goals at the Championship.
