Eliab: It’s an awesome feeling to be back

Former SP Hunters captain, Israel Eliab says it’s an awesome feeling to be back with the team.

Eliab was one of six former Hunters players named in the final 29-man squad for the 2017 campaign in the Intrust Super Cup competition.

The 26-year-old left the Hunters in 2015 to play with the London Broncos in the Kingstone Press Championship, United Kingdom, but has since returned.

“I’ve been away for one year. I think I’ve brought back some experience from playing rugby league outside of PNG and I’m happy to bring something back to the team and support the team to go all the way this year.

“The little things like playing around the ruck area, how to run the ball, passing skills and all that are part of the experience I got which I can use to help the younger players through this season,” said Eliab.

Eliab said he followed the progress of the Hunters in the 2016 season up until the end saying it was a good experience for the younger players.

“I missed the Hunters very much, missed playing alongside my brothers.

“I’m now looking forward to going another step this year with them. It’s an awesome feeling to be back,” said Eliab.
