Police: Worrying trend in sexual offences

Police in Manus have reported an increase in sexual offences in recent times in the province and are worried about the trend.

Last month an 11-year-old girl was pack raped in Korojih village. Two teenagers have been arrested and appeared in court over the incident.

This month a man was picked up, while another is still on the run, over the rape of a 28-year-old woman living with disability, while a man from Bipi Island who allegedly continuously sexually assaulted his daughter from June was arrest after the victim placed a police report in Lorengau.

The 45-year-old has appeared at the Lorengau Committal court last week and was remanded in custody.

In other offences from the province, a 29-year-old from Pere village who allegedly stole K2,700 cash was charged for break and enter and appeared in court last Friday, 6 September.
