New acting director for cultural commission

Efforts by the National Cultural Commission in preparing for the upcoming 2018 Melanesian Arts & Cultural Festival, and APEC, are well underway as a new acting executive director was appointed today.

A welcoming ceremony was held between the Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Emil Tammur and the incoming acting executive director, John Uani.

In a brief ceremony today, Minister Tammur welcomed the acting appointment and said this was a way forward for the commission to sort themselves out and prepare for upcoming major events.

In response, Uani said they would focus on regrouping the organisation and preparing them for the major national and international tasks that lay ahead.

Meantime, Minister Tammur said the acting appointment was long overdue, also taking the opportunity to appeal to the Ministerial Executive Appointment Committee to be mindful of the appointments that they make.

Tammur says by them appointing officers who have been part of the organisation, the commission will see continuity in the type of management it has.
