2018 Melanesian Arts & Cultural Festival

Students set the bar

The primary to high school students welcomed the 2018 Melanesian Arts & Cultural Festival participants in true Pacific style contemporary fashion with an homage to the Melanesian spirit of unity and peace.

Each body was decked up in gold, white and green – symbolic to the festival host.

Participants watched in awe as they wowed the crowds at Lawson Tama on Sunday during the festival’s opening ceremony.

New acting director for cultural commission

A welcoming ceremony was held between the Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Emil Tammur and the incoming acting executive director, John Uani.

In a brief ceremony today, Minister Tammur welcomed the acting appointment and said this was a way forward for the commission to sort themselves out and prepare for upcoming major events.

In response, Uani said they would focus on regrouping the organisation and preparing them for the major national and international tasks that lay ahead.
