Lae Police to continue festive operations into New Year

Lae police will continue with its festive season operations into the New Year.

Lae Metropolitan Superintendent Anthony Wagambie Jr says an operational plan is in place already and has been executed.

“All Lae police personnel will be used in these operation and a 24 hour police presence will be seen at strategic locations across the city,” said Wagambie Jnr.

The Lae police commander said despite Lae having a history of ethnic clashes, harassment by drunkards and disorderly conduct, the 2015 and 2016 New Year celebrations have been proven to be successful.

“We ensure that it will be the same this time around. This is anticipated, as observed with the Christmas period.”

Meanwhile, Wagambie Jnr commended his men for their professionalism, and also the public for a crime and accident free Christmas celebrations.
