Lae Police to continue festive operations into New Year

Lae Metropolitan Superintendent Anthony Wagambie Jr says an operational plan is in place already and has been executed.

“All Lae police personnel will be used in these operation and a 24 hour police presence will be seen at strategic locations across the city,” said Wagambie Jnr.

The Lae police commander said despite Lae having a history of ethnic clashes, harassment by drunkards and disorderly conduct, the 2015 and 2016 New Year celebrations have been proven to be successful.

MS 13 to support New Year operation in Lae

Lae Metropolitan Superintendent Anthony Wagambie Jr commended his command for their professionalism, and also the public for a crime and accident free Christmas celebration adding that  police operations will continue until the New Year.

“We have an operation plan in place which will be executed. We will again have 24 hour police presence all over the city at strategic locations,” Wagambie Jnr said.  

He said some MS 13 personnel providing security in neighbouring Madang Province will return on Friday.
