GG attends first official duty

The 10th Governor General of Papua New Guinea, Bob Dadae, officiated at his first official duty today in Port Moresby.

The vice regal signed and witnessed a contract agreement signing for IPI Group to provide catering services to PNG Defence Force establishments in the country.

PNGDF acting commander, Colonel Ray Numa, and IPI Group CEO Scott O’Reilly, signed the K24.7 million contract for the company to feed the PNGDF service men and women.

“The contract signing now marks the beginning of the new contract for IPI to provide catering to the entire PNG Defence establishments for the next five years,” Colonel Numa said.

“On behalf of the PNG Defence Force, the commander and all the serving men and women, I would like to say thank you to the State for making it possible for the new contract to come in.

“Signing of the contract draws down the funding for IPI to provide the service.”

Colonel Numa said the catering company started providing meals on Thursday.

The acting commander said in this transitionary period from the previous contractor, IPI will provide its services to only Lae and Port Moresby PNGDF bases, and will extend to all PNGDF establishments in April.

Meanwhile, the IPI Group CEO made a commitment to provide a professional service to all PNGDF personnel.
