Welcome to Pom City is making a steady climb in the top nine hits of local radio station (96.3) Nau FM.
The hip hop track which features Planet Native’s YansaQ is the first for PNG’s fresh voice on the air – Noxxy Dawg.
Noxxy is not new to the hip hop scene though.
He was the winner of PNG’s first ever recognised rap battle – Rapture 2016.
Speaking to Loop PNG after the win, he announced his plan to record for commercial purpose.
His first track Welcome to Pom City dropped late March on local radio stations 96.3 Nau FM and Hot 97.1 FM.
The track speaks of Port Moresby as the place where the fun is.
“Let me hear you say POM! Let me hear you say POM! Let me hear you say, welcome to Pom City!”
Speaking to Loop PNG in the follow up, he said:
“I felt excited and awkward listening to myself on air. I’m working with Tattz, 1365 studios. The music life has been a good journey so far. I’m trying to find a way to attract people to PNG hip hop and also say something people need to hear.
“I’m not really into the girl-girl music. My brothers need a sense of direction in life.”
