Women’s conference underway in Port Moresby

A women’s conference staged by the Wesleyan Church of Papua New Guinea is underway in Port Moresby from September 26 to October 10.

The 7th National Women’s Conference is hosted by the PNG Wesleyan Church Women Ministry (PNG WCWM) with the theme ‘Pray at All Time’.

The conference will be held at the Rita Flynn Indoor Complex and the Ensisi Valley Church Grounds.

PNG WCWM has been participating with other denomination’s women groups to work together to overcome challenges in fulfilling God’s purpose for women.

National Wesleyan women’s president Ruthy Herowa said they’ve been planning this conference for four years and are looking forward to the week-long activities.

Herowa said they were proud to come together as one nation representing the various provinces and praying together.

This is the first time the conference is held in the Southern Region with past meetings held in the Highlands Region.

The conference consists of workshops, fasting and prayer sessions focused on issues affecting women.

“We are going to pray for our own homes and families as a lot of women now experience broken homes.

“We will also pray for all churches in PNG and the country as a whole,” Herowa said.

Hundreds of women have travelled in from 13 provinces including Hela, Southern Highlands, Western Highlands, Chimbu, Eastern Highlands, Jiwaka, Morobe and Northern provinces to participate in this conference.
