PNGSF staff to attend course in Gold Coast

Two staff from the Papua New Guinea Sport Foundation (PNGSF) will be attending a mentoring course in Gold Coast next month.

High Performance Sport -PNGSF Director, Aaron Alsop said the course will run from August 2-7 at the Runaway Bay Sports Super Centre (RBSSC).

He said the two staff are- HP Sport Athlete Career and Education (ACE) Coordinator, Richard Ora and National Sport Institute Director, Janet Gimots.

“The relationship High Performance in PNG and our sports have built with RBSSC sees us continue those opportunities for our athletes and coaches to this day,” said Alsop.

RBSSC Director, Brendan Flynn said the Sports Super Centre has developed a close relationship with Team PNG, the PNG Olympic Committee and the PNGSF since 2014.

“We have been fortunate enough to host 15 different PNG sporting codes over the past three years.

“The Centre provided priority access to first class facilities at the Sports Super Centre for all PNG teams and individuals competing in the 2015 PNG Pacific Games to assist those teams and individuals in preparation for the event,” said Flynn.

Flynn explained that the program will involve one on one mentoring sessions with all Heads of Departments and Executive Management.

“This will also include hands on operational shadowing of each Department so PNGSF staff gain firsthand experience on how we operate and transferring these skills to their related disciplines back in PNG.

“All staff at the Sports Super Centre are extremely excited and looking forward to hosting Janet and Richard in August,” said Flynn.
