PNG Lewas beat Vanuatu by 55 runs

The PNG Lewas beat Vanuatu by 55 runs in their opening match of women’s cricket at the Pacific Games at Bisini today.

The Lewas went in to bat first, setting up a target of 139. They batted out the full 20 overs losing 8 wickets.

Openers Norma Ovasuru (33) and Varoi Morea (21) put on a 54 run partnership to get things going.

Other notable contributions came from Helen Buruka (22) and Tanya Ruma (20). Vanuatu’s Jelany Chilia was the top bowler, finishing with figures of 2/20.

In their response, Vanuatu got off to a bad start by losing their opening four wickets for only 20 runs.
