Knights to celebrate Sir Michael’s 80th birthday in Wewak

A Knight and former parliamentarian, Chief Sir Peter Barter along with close friends including another knight Sir Mekere Morauta will visit Wewak this weekend to celebrate the 80th birthday of PNG’s founding father Grand Chief Sir Michael Thomas Somare.

Grand Chief Rt. Hon Sir Michael T, Somare, the founding Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea turns 80 on April 9, 2016.

According to Melanesian News, the Grand Chief will celebrate his birthday and 48 years in politics in Wewak with his family, friends and colleagues. International guests are also likely to attend the celebrations.

Sir Peter, the Managing Director of Melanesian Tourists Services along with close friends of Sir Michael will visit Wewak aboard the Kalibobo Spirit to witness the important historic event.

The party on board the Kalibobo Spirit will include Sir Mekere and Lady Roselyn, another female knight Dame Meg Taylor and daughter Tamail, Professor Edward Wolfers, former Chief Justice and Madang Governor Sir Arnold Amet, Professor Fr Jan Czuba and Andrew Barter.

Hanubada knight Sir Mahuru Dadi Toka will also be attending the gala event in the East Sepik capital.
