Hunters name squad to face Penrith Panthers

SP PNG Hunters has named a 22 men squad to take on the Penrith Panthers for a trail game on Saturday at the National Football Stadium.

Coach Michael Marum has started with an experienced side as he works towards finalising his team leading up to the Intrust Super Cup season.

Included in the squad for this weekend are key players Stargroth Amean, Thompson Teteh, Adex Wera, Ase Boas and Adam Korave.

All SP Hunters players including the newcomers are endeavouring to impress to ensure they make the final squad of 25 players to gain the Intrust Super Cup at the end of season 2016.

New faces include Benjamin Hetra, Justin Olam, Philemon Kimisive, Tuvi Lepan and Nickson Borana.

The only newcomer to get a start in the run on thirteen is Hetra, who will debut for the Hunters in the second row.

Five players are down with injury and will have to pass fitness test leading up to the game.

They’re Sailas Gahuna, Peter Simon, Enock Maki, Anderson Benford and Peter Brandy.

The team for this match will be captained by Noel Zemming.

The game kicks off at 5.45pm and will be telecast live on TV WAN SPORTS HD.

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill will be present for the official kick-off as part of the official opening of the Stadium.

Gates open at 4pm and a curtain raiser for Women’s Rugby League will begin at 4.05 pm between Magi Highway Ravens and Porebada DCA Bulldogs.
