Basil Greg to be inducted into Hall of Fame at music awards

Music legend, singer, sound engineer and song writer Basil Greg will be awarded and inducted into the Hall of Fame at the 12th Yumi FM Digicel PNG Music Awards.

The Awards night is scheduled on April 30 at Lamana Gold Club.

The Hall of Fame Award is specifically tailored towards well-known artists who have supported young and old artists to better themselves in the style of music of their choice.

Basil Greg is one of the most popular recording artists in PNG.

Beginning his career with the famous Hollie Maea, Greg left the band in the early 90s to focus on a solo career and succeeded beyond his expectations.

Greg’s career as a solo artist picked up as soon as he got to recording and since then, he has released a total of 15 solo albums.

Kasty of Yumi FM said in a statement that Greg’s influence in the industry has gone beyond his humble Gulf Province and made and impact in Port Moresby, East New Britain and Western Province.

Kasty said many who remember him and received his musical guidance will know the Swamp Sound Studios in Western where he assisted musicians to excel in the career path they chose.

Greg has his own recording studio called Touora Muzik Studio back in his home village Lese Oalai.

Tickets for the Awards night are now available at Lamana reception and Paradise Cinema, Vision City selling at K100 arena and K150 balcony.
