2015 Men of Honour Awards launched

Nominations are open after today’s official launching of the 2015 Men of Honour Awards.

The event was held at the Digicel Learning Centre and was attended by members of the independent panel of judges and the 2014 Men of Honour winners including overall winner, Jimmy Drekore.

Digicel PNG Foundation chief executive officer Beatrice Mahuru welcomed all nominations for this year.

Nomination forms can be picked up from all Digicel retail outlets across the country and can also be downloaded from the Digicel Foundation website.

“I encourage everyone to look within their communities and share with the rest of  PNG the stories of amazing men who are doing incredible things to combat violence within their communities,” said Mahuru.

Drekore said that through the Men of Honour campaign, he had taken awareness to the youths in various schools and universities.

“It’s my vision to mould a younger generation  who are instilled with good values such as integrity, honour and courage, who in turn will influence the generations after them as well as work together to overcome violence in our country,” said Drekore.

The 2014 Men of Honour Awards received 392 nominations for the 5 categories – Community Ingenuity, Sporting Mentor, Community Entrepreneur, Community Education Champion, and Community Leadership. The 6th category is the overall winner.
