Popular local hit Pulim Pis composed by Minister Duban

Madang Province’s music artist Demas Saul revealed last Friday that his local hit single Pulim Pis was actually composed by the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure and MP for Madang, Nixon Duban.

Saul made the announcement in front of hundreds of music enthusiasts who had gathered to watch him perform alongside Solomon Islands music sensation, Sharzy. They were celebrating the commissioning of the new Madang Town market.

Pulim Pis, which is a simple and catchy single produced in the sentimental genre, has already become a household favourite in PNG following its continuous replays on radio. The single even topped the PNG weekly music countdown last year (2015).

Saul and his group, including Vok Kiatig of Shydeez fame, performed the number live on stage and made mention that it was a ‘special dedication’ to the Minister for Fisheries and Marine Resources and MP for Tewae-Siassi, Mao Zeming.

Minister Duban watched the performance with delight and waved to his supporters from the stage. It was also revealed later that the MP is indeed a musician; a keyboard player.

The crowd last Friday was so hyped up when Demas Saul and Shydeez were joined by Sharzy on stage to belt out PNG’s current popular hit single: Bilas Bilum bilong Wosera. They paid no attention to the scorching heat of the midday sun as they swayed and danced away.
