​ PNG U17 men’s football team prepares for OFC championship

The PNG National U17 men’s football team is gearing up for the U17 championship in Tahiti next year as they prepare to go intense when they travel to New Zealand later next month.

With only 3 months away from the tournament, the team will be on tour for a month playing matches against selected teams and schools in New Zealand to upskill their fitness and skills for the coming event.

The coach in charge of the youngsters’ development, Harrison Kamake, believed that the matches would have dual advantages.

Exposure has been the key word of stint with the young players, to help them develop their carreer and skills and combinations between players on the pitch.

Kamake looks to give his side the best preparation they can get for the tournament as they look forward to face Fiji, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Solomon Islands, Tahiti and Vanuatu in the 6th edition of the U-17 OFC biennial international youth football tournament.

The tournament will be held in Tahiti between Feb 8-20, 2017.
