OSM reaches out to street kids

A charity organization, Office of the Street Ministry (OSM) has reached out to help the most vulnerable children in Port Moresby that are in need of a proper home.

The OSM started in 2010 established under the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Moresby.

The ministry has been helping children continue their education by providing school materials, meals, school uniforms and other necessities.

It recently received a donation of K5, 000 from the India Association PNG that will go towards carrying out their work.

Sr Jeanne-Adeline thanked IAPNG for the kind gesture as it was very touching especially for the love of the unfortunate.

She said with the donation, the children will be able to continue or to go to school to learn how to read and write.

“We appreciate it very much indeed as the donation will go towards buying school stationary for the kids such as books, bags, exercise books, pens, pencils and color pencils.

“We will also use the funds to provide healthy nutritious meals for the kids to have after their classes and to buy school and sports uniforms.

“Also, we plan to save some for social activities like outings and picnic at least once within the school year or during the Christmas holidays,” Sr Jeanne-Adeline said.

She said they also want to encourage the volunteer teachers who are working with us.
