Students working on children’s book

In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Kokoda Campaign, last week Kokoda Track Foundation (KTF) ran a workshop at the Kokoda College.

For this workshop, KTF brought in school children from PNG and Australia and four amazing PNG and Australian writers and artists.

The school children came together to share stories around the shared histories between Australia and PNG that was forged on these rugged and beautiful mountains.

Working with the extraordinary artist, Jeffry Feeger, and writers, Iriani Wanma, Rashmii Amoah and Yahoo Serious, the children worked on creating a children’s book that will keep the spirit of Kokoda alive for generations to come. This will become available on Kokoda Day 2017!

In addition, KTF staff distributed 750 Solar Buddy lights to students attending Kokoda Primary School, which have been generously donated by schools and businesses in Australia.

KTF is working to Light Up PNG, starting with the communities they work with along the Kokoda Catchment areas.
