“Under Air Niugini’s High Altitude Program, the customer is one of the key pillars of the organisation and in partnership with Bank South Pacific, Air Niugini is able to enhance the airline ticket payment process of our customers through the use of mobile phones and BSP’s Mobile Banking Service *131#.”

Milne added: “The new payment process via BSP Mobile Banking enables mobile phone users the millennials, and younger generation to take advantage of the enhanced payment systems available.”

BSP’s Head of Marketing and Public Relations, Gorethy Semi, said: “The upgraded BSP Mobile Payment System demonstrates convenience in our enhanced payment capabilities and enables customers to pay using their mobile phones with a dial of the key pad.

“As part of the bank’s strategy in excelling into digitalisation, we are constantly improving the customer experience across our digital touchpoints. Mobile Banking Ticket Payments is one of them that is in place to provide our customers with seamless and more efficient payment option whenever they make a purchase for airline tickets through mobile banking.”

A demonstration of the ticket payment, via BSP Mobile Banking, was done by BSP Digital Implementation Lead, Doriga Ove, where a pre booking of a flight was made and a booking reference was pre-generated.

Ove explained that by using the booking reference, a registered BSP Mobile Banking customer can make a ticket payment under the Payments Option on the BSP Mobile Banking Menu. Funds will be debited from customers’ account, and an e-ticket reference is sent via SMS as confirmation for the successful payment. Customers can show the ticket reference, at the airport at Check-In time to obtain a boarding pass.

Flight Bookings can be made through the Air Niugini Toll Free number 180 3444 or book online on Air Niugini website www.airniugini.com.pg to obtain a booking reference.
