Yu Em Khax talent show heads for Mt Hagen

The newest show to be produced out of Digicel Play’s production studio in Gordon, Yu Em Khax is a new reality television show creating exciting opportunities for the most talented and unique entertainers in the country.

Yu Em Khax premiered on TVWAN Life on Saturday 5 November and has been met with great enthusiasm from Digicel Play subscribers ever since. With the build-up of great performances from the Lae auditions, the hype has been set for the other locations to live up to. Lae has set the pace, and Hagen will be the next to bring their A game.

Lae auditions set higher platform

Compared to Port Moresby, Ailyn says there are a variety of talents and each came prepared for the auditions.

“What we did not see in Port Moresby, we are seeing it here. Port Moresby gave us the more usual acts like singing and dancing, Lae on the other hand has a drama group, two or three magicians, a few comedians, rapping, beat-boxing.

“We did not expect this much and the youngest who auditioned on Saturday was about 4 or 5 years old. Most who auditioned are mostly teens and in their early twenties, with sereral elderly people,” she said.

Ragath Solomon, Meshach Dobunaba and Heno Giwi were never a band until yesterday.

“We decided to drop by and make fun of those who were here to audition,” says Solomon.

But they had a change of mind after a brief chat with one of the staff of Yu Em Khax, Sarah Palek.

“So Sarah talked us into trying out for the audition and we just formed a group then. We were never a group prior to this,” Giwi explained.

Yu Em Khax scouts in Lae

A total of 7 crew members left Port Moresby late yesterday for the capital of Morobe Province. Seven more will leave today and a few more on Saturday in time for registrations, which begin at 10am.

Lae is the second centre the scouts of Digicel Play’s newest TV show are in to search for talents.

The idea of the show is to identify one unique talent in PNG, thus auditions are open to all acts; singers, dancers, musicians, comedians, poets, illusionists and magicians are all welcome!

Yu Em Khax ‘magician’ is touch of class at first audition

“We know it’s just a trick but it blew our minds watching the scarf literally lift from the ground as the magician lifted his hands without physical contact. This is the quality we are looking for,” Simeon has stressed.

The team will be travelling to Lae to scout unique talents from the province this weekend.

“I am expecting more b-boys or break dance crews trying out from Lae because this is where break dancing started. There should also be a lot of acting and at least one or two traditional dances or cotemporary in that matter,” Simeon says.

PNG’s hottest show audition set for Lae

While the first episode aired for the first time last week, talented people all across the country still have time to audition for their chance to become PNG’s next household name.

Port Moresby auditions showcased a diverse and unique pool of talents that included a comedian, magician, singer and a wild card, setting the pace for the rest of the performances to follow.

Lae will be the next location for budding magicians, singers, dancers and comedians to impress the judges with their performances in each of their respective act categories.

“Yu em Khax” audition continues in Pom

A good number of contestants turned up early in the morning to get in line first for auditions before the judges turned up at the location.

Producer for the “Yu Em Khax” talent show, Ailynn Sokot says the “Yu Em Khax” production crew had to prepare and set up the stage the previous night so that we could just kick off with the auditions and not keeps the contestants waiting.

Sokot says last week auditions saw more than 300 people register to audition and from the 300, 50 were selected.
