Despite the delay in the clearance of YWAM Medical Ship’s onboard doctors to operate, eye surgeries proceeded as scheduled.
PIH dispatched their full-time eye surgeon, Dr Vivekaraj Jairaj, to the YWAM Medical Ship, anchored at Kanzarua up the coast of Lae.
While on board for 12 days, the team operated on 74 patients.
Operations included cataract, pterygium (tery-gee-uhm) and eyelid surgeries.
