The two women from Tari in the Hela Province were fighting over a bride price ceremony that took place last weekend.
The two, aged 34 and 39, were taken to the Boroko police station and charged with disturbing the peace.
Both women were picked up after residents called about the fight.
Loop PNG was told that the two were picked up by a foot beat patrol who were walking their beat as part of the Games opeartions.
Police report that the two women will each be let off with a warning and asked to attend a mediation meeting next week.
