Horizon awaits viability of Western Pipeline

According to Business Advantage PNG, Emmet said while Horizon awaits government and regulatory approval for their mid-sized Western LNG project, the company is considering the proposal by Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited for the pipeline.

He said this during the Business Advantage PNG Investment Conference in Sydney, Australia, recently.

Pre-FEED scope change on Western Pipeline likely

Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited (KPHL) Managing Director, Wapu Sonk, told Loop PNG that a decision will be made on the Pre-FEED whether to alter it or proceed ahead into FEED.

“We’ve finalized the pre-FEED and we have the report that we are starting now, and we will make a decision on whether to re-do the some parts of the pre-FEED work or go straight into FEED.

“But at the moment it looks like we will take some time to pre-FEED work on scope change that we are proposing,” Sonk said.

Western pipeline to increase revenue

Horizon Oil Chief Executive Officer, Brent Emmett (Pictured), said during the Petroleum and Energy Summit in Port Moresby that the potential income can be generated through the proposed Western Pipeline.

Horizon Oil and Repsol both own a 66 per cent stake in the appraised Western Foreland fields commercialisation project in the province and have in place a road map for the delivery of a ‘Western LNG’ pipeline.

Western Province to back Western Pipeline

Deputy Governor, Abini Gesele, told Loop PNG that he has spoken to KPHL and wants to see cooperation between all stakeholders to make the project a reality and for the people to benefit.

The proposed third train Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project was announced by KPHL Managing Director, Wapu Sonk, in Sydney, Australia, last month.

The Western Pipeline aims to aggregate all the gas fields in the Western Province into a single pipeline that will run all the way to Port Moresby.
