Potato Project Launched In Wasu

Minister for Agriculture John Simon was accompanied by National Planning Minister Renbo Paita on a special invitation from Governor William Powi, to officiate at the launching of this potato production initiative.

The Wasu cow paddock was packed to capacity with pigs brought for slaughter, and traditional dance, in celebration of this. Thousand flocked in from neighbouring Kagua Erave and Mendi Munihu, to participate.

New police station, courthouse for Wasu

The new courthouse was funded in partnership with the Department of Justice & Attorney General at a cost of K1.2 million, and will include a court room, Family and Sexual Violence Unit and office for village court magistrates.

Kenny Iro is a longtime village court magistrate in Wasu. He was recently elevated to be the law and order chairman for Tewai-Siassi district; looking after 120 other village court magistrates.
