A mesmerizing event that unfolded after months of intensive workshops conducted by the tireless Wan Squad, it was a testament to the boundless talent of the young dance crews from both the juniors and open divisions.

With over 500 enthusiastic attendees, the competition was nothing short of a dance extravaganza, showcasing the vibrant spirit of Papua New Guinea's flourishing dance scene.

Wan Squad makes history in dance finals

A dancer described this as an unreal experience and was excited for the achievement the team has made.

Upon arrival, the Wan Squad dancers were embraced to a welcome reception by awaiting family members and fans at the Jacksons International Airport.

Team leader David Chee said the team have been preparing for this event for a very long time, and for them to make it through to the finals was a big achievement for them.

Chee said the team had finished in 14th place in the previous championship dance. This time they finished in the top four.

Being the youngest in the crew, I feel blessed to be a part of a family that looks out for me from day one when I first joined them, I more or less grew up around these awesome fellas.

My odyssey with WANSQUAD means so much to me, as I have learnt many great things starting with being inspired to do what I love by turning it into a career and making my family proud.

Aside from the dance factor, the crew have mentored and helped me grow in life. I am always grateful for them and our manager for teaching me to be humble and respectful.

Mind-blowing experience

Wan Squad, PNG's first-ever dance crew, participated in the Pacific Islands Hip Hop International qualifier and stamped their mark when they came out on top of their event.

It was a mind blowing experience for the Port Moresby 5-man crew upon arrival at Auckland, New Zealand, for the Hip Hop International South Pacific Islands qualifier. The event was from the 16th to the 18th of April.
