Wampar Junior High School launched

Members of the Morobe Provincial Education Board and the village of Gabmazung launched the Wampar Junior High School on Thursday, August 26th.

The village of Gabmazung, located a few minutes away from Gabsongkeg, came alive on Thursday with two different events; the observance of the National Repentance Day and the launching of Wampar LLG’s first-ever junior high school.

The repentance day activities were led by Lutheran women groups within the electorate while Gabmazung Lutheran Primary School facilitated the launching of their high school.

And is its population increases, so too will the demand for better Government services.

With major projects on the horizon, the Wampar LLG is experiencing an influx of people who are hoping to benefit from spin-offs.

During a recent event at Zifasing, the Huon Gulf MP, Ross Seymour, highlighted the need for better health and education services for his district.

The Prime Minister, who was scheduled to visit the Wampar LLG of Huon Gulf District on Thursday, 10th of September, had to defer his trip to Friday the 11th. Locals, on the other hand, did not let that affect their program.

Petty crimes, drug and alcohol abuse and social unrest are just some of the issues faced by customary landowners when they sell their land to outsiders.

The violent rape and killing of a woman at Gabsongkeg village of Wampar LLG reinforced this message as concerned women protested the heinous act on August 28th.

Wampar needs a police station: Commander

The Morobe Rural Commander, Chief Inspector John Daviaga, made this statement in support of the Nadzab women’s call for a safer community.

Daviaga outlined that a police station is needed within the Wampar LLG, especially with the proposed Nadzab township on the horizon.
