Hekari set to make comeback

The Hekari United Football Club is preparing to enter the National Soccer League scene after two years of being left out in the cold.

They were known as the most disciplined and driven club in PNG football. Unfortunately, the Hekari United Football Club, and especially its talented players, suffered during the two years of impasse with the PNG Football Association.

Following the eventual union of the two football factions, Hekari, in its bid to outclass rivals, has recalled its head coach, Jerry Allen, who flew in from the Solomon Islands today.

Kapi Natto impressed with talent on show at Papaka

Kapi Natto said football players from the Central province have plenty of talent in them and they proved this with 20 players drafted into Hekari’s train-on squad after last year’s inaugural Hekari Central Cup.

“We had three players from Papaka, four from Kalo, four from Keapara and two from Kaparoko.

“There were 12 that stayed committed until the end with three or four making the final cut,” said Kapi Natto.

She encouraged the players to stay committed and disciplined to achieve their dreams in life.

Gaidi take out honours with 3-1 win

Kicking off under lights at 7.45pm in Central, the game provided plenty of action with players from both sides eager to catch the eye of Team Manager of Hekari United FC, Vonnie Kapi Natto, who was there scouting for new talent.

It was Gaidi who struck first after Jack Karo opened the scoring in the first half to give his side the lead, going into the break.

Netta equalised minutes into the second half through the boot of Kila Polena, who powered one past the keeper.

Kapi Natto: Hekari players withdrawing from Kapuls squad

This comes after the news was made official yesterday of Hekari’s withdrawal from the semi-professional Telikom National Soccer League (NSL) competition.

“As a manager, I have been communicating with them. To be honest with you, they sympathise with us. They said if we can start again, that’s fine. We can build another organisation.

"To be honest with you, the majority of them are withdrawing,” said Kapi Natto.

She said the current PNG Kapuls squad has current and former Hekari players totalling up to 14 players.
