Kikau's four-year wait to link with Cleary

In his first stint as Penrith coach Ivan Cleary met with Kikau to discuss a possible move to Penrith and along with general manager Phil Gould, convinced the then 19-year-old that Sydney's west was where his future would lie.

But by the time Kikau arrived, Cleary had been given his marching orders by Gould in a move that caught many off guard – including the up-and-coming talent.

With Cleary now back at the Panthers, the trio are now set to work together for the first time since the handshake agreement was made four years ago.

Viliame Kikau came off the pine and blew the game wide open in the second half with an amazing period of play which ultimately got his side the round one points.

Kikau scored a barnstorming try in the 43rd minute when he barged over a couple of sorry defenders.

That kickstarted the comeback for Penrith, who went to half time trailing 14-6 after a horror opening half-hour.

The 22-year-old Penrith powerhouse goes by the nickname “Bill” and Kangaroos forward Reagan Campbell-Gillard knows only too well the devastation he can cause after watching  him “terrorising people” in the Intrust Super Premiership this year.

Kikau stands at 195cm and weighs in at 119kg.
