University Piggies

CRU providing employment pathways for players

The games have evolved overtime, making strides abroad in the Australia and England’s rugby league competitions with a handful of homegrown rugby league players securing fulltime contracts there.

While this is a great success story for the code of rugby league, the sister code, rugby union has gone one-step further in giving its players opportunity to secure employment abroad and play rugby as well.

Uni Piggies edges out Nova

A determined Nova team under the helm of former Australian Wallaby Aiden Toua, put up a strong contest against courageous University Piggies to maintain their winning run but the Piggies pulled off an upset win with just two points difference.

With both sides enjoying equal possession of the ball throughout the match, the Piggies were more disciplined with the ball despite some errors. They remain composed to come off the field with the win.

Their win comes down to discipline and willingness to get the job done in both ends of the field in attack and defense.

University win CRU premier men's grand final

It was a hard fought win for the Piggies who came back in the second-half after trailing 3-0 at the break.

Solid and disciplined guarding in the second-half to keep the Defence boys try-less  ensured the win for University.

Two tries midway through the match allowed University to take the lead and hold on until the final whistle.

In the men's A reserve grand final, Wanderers had a narrow 8-7 win over the University Piggies.
