Preventative actions on SARV needed

This is in contrast to reactionary responses to injustice in Papua New Guinea.

The dialogue revealed that strengthened collaboration and preventative action is a more cost effective and efficient way to address Sorcery Related Violence (SARV) and other forms of violence.

Solar Program To Close Energy Gap

United Nation’s Development Programme (UNDP) Project Manager, Karen Anawe is pleased to announce that preparatory works are underway to ensure they assist the government to close the energy access gap, by promoting clean energy and a transition towards a low carbon economy in our focus areas.

Anawe said the meeting also discussed sustainability and ownership arrangements of these micro grid solar systems.

Support for PNG, AROB Parliaments

Drawing on Papua New Guinea’s rich democratic tradition, the launch of UNDP’s Parliamentary Support Programme heralds a new partnership with the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea and the Bougainville House of Representatives of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.

The package of assistance will work to strengthen collaboration between both parliaments.

It will support members of both legislatures in their efforts to debate matters of public interest as they steward Papua New Guinea’s national development.

Lighting Up Life In Sepik

Approximately 15 percent of Papua New Guinea's 10 million people have access to reliable electricity.

Remote and rural areas able to access electricity are often powered by high-cost diesel generators which affects the reliability of the power being supplied. This also contributes significantly to poor air quality and Greenhouse Gas Emissions.

Survey to shed light on skills shortage

Conducted by Deloitte and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the survey hopes to shed light on the skills most in need in PNG, which ultimately will help policy makers and businesses in planning for the future.

Deloitte Manager Economics and Policy Advisory, Todd McInnis, tells Loop PNG the survey focuses on employment growth, which is crucial to local capacity building, and ensure sustainable and equitable development for locals.
