UNFPA Engages Stakeholders

In a workshop held last Friday, UNFPA reported that this is the first time in the Pacific Region including Papua New Guinea, for a national guideline, being developed that considers the potential of condom programming in contributing to sustainable development, putting the rights, needs and aspiration of all sexually active individuals at the centre.

The guidelines are being developed for the Department of Health and the National AIDS Council.

Girls in The Digital Age

The occasion marks the importance of adolescent girl children and attempts at identifying their power and potential by opening opportunities for them. It also aims to amplify and empower the voices of adolescent girls around the globe.

Through observing this day, an attempt is made to talk about and eradicate the issues concerning adolescent girl children. Throughout the world, girls face gender-based challenges such as child marriage, discrimination, violence, and poor learning opportunities.

Non-Scalpel Vasectomy Training, Bialla

A one week training was conducted at the Bialla health centre involving six health workers from six health posts in the district. The family planning training was conducted by the West New Britain Health Authorities with major support from the United National Population Fund or UNFPA. The training program focused on a simple procedure that does not involve an operation, on the male client. This procedure is deemed to be an alternative of a woman receiving Tubal ligation.
