Surfing association sets up resource centre

The SAPNG Education Resource Centre was set up in honour of patron of Tupira Surf Club, Justice Nicholas Kirriwom.

It was officially launched during the staging of the 2017 PNG KUMUL World Longboard Championships in March at Tupira Surf Club, Ulingan Bay, Bogia District in Madang Province.

The centre has been established in line with SAPNG’s ‘No School - No Surf’ policy which focuses on empowering children with the fundamentals of education in lieu of access to surf boards.

The books for the centre were donated by the Buk Bilong Pikinini.

World surf event will grow tourism

This Surfing Association PNG-World Surf League (WSL) surf tour championship will be held at Tupira in Madang Province.

About 60 athletes are expected to take part in this world event plus 20 WSL staff and the local and international media.

SAPNG president Andrew Abel says that this planned event will have very strong international promotion.

The event will be a live broadcast to the world plus being an international program to distribute globally with focus on SAPNG policies.
