Hamamas Rice enters market

Hamamas Rice is the latest edition to the Trukai brand, which is produced in Morobe Province.

The launching was witnessed by Agriculture Minister, Benny Allen, in Port Moresby.

Trukai Hamamas Rice is a 100 per cent home grown rice in Rangiampum Vllage, Umi-Azera LLG, in Markham, Morobe Province.

The launch completes the introduction of a new domestic commercial production for Trukai Industries and PNG.

The rice is from 275 hectares of rainfed crop at Umi in the Markham Valley.

Bishop launches solar rice milling technology in Lae

This project is in partnership with the National Agricultural Research Institute’s (NARI) and Trukai Rice.

Through this innovative project, NARI will partner with Trukai to pilot solar powered rice milling equipment in a select number of rice-growing communities in Morobe Province.

Trukai will assist the pilot project by supporting the development of links for rural farmers to commercial markets. The pilot is being facilitated through the Australian Government funded Incentive Fund.

Fiji will be arriving in Port Moresby for trade talks

A team of officials from Fiji’s Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism and Biosecurity Authority, will be arriving in Port Moresby over the weekend to meet with officials from PNG to iron out issues that sparked the trade impasse. The issue between PNG and Fiji is over Ox & Palm and other PNG Made products.

This was revealed in a letter dated 21st September, 2016, from Minister Siddiq Koya to PNG’s Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry, Richard Maru.

Trukai team delivers rice to hospital patients

Regional sales manager Jacob Areke and his staff delivered and offloaded bags of white and brown rice at the hospital premises for the patients’ daily rations.

Northern province ventures into rice farming

An agreement had been signed between Trukai, Oro Rice Growers Cooperative Association and the Oro Provincial Government to start the project.

The agreement is a three-way partnership between Trukai, Oro Rice Growers Cooperative and the Provincial Government to expand rice growing in Oro as a major cash crop.

Trukai will ensure quality control and extension services are provided while the farmers pledged 3,000 hectares of land and a continued flow of quality rice.
