Trukai aid Morobeans affected by drought

Representatives from Kukuc, Waritsian and Mamaringan were pleased to receive Trukai's timely donation.

Kukuc village leader, Michael Som sad, “Trukai will always be a part of our lives and a part of this country, it is through Trukai's quick intervention in places that need help that really demonstrates its strength as the only iconic brand in the country," said Som.

Eat Smart with Trukai

The campaign is aimed at promoting healthy eating choices, by encouraging Papua New Guineans to use simple local produce straight from the land and creating nutritional wholesome meals, values which are aligned with the company’s TruInspiration campaign through its Trukai brand.

Trukai Industries Marketing Manager, Maryanne Tom said this partnership is a progression of the great relationship already in place with the Healthy Food Co’s founder and current Trukai Brand Ambassador, Chef Julz Henao.

No Fun Run

Trukai Industries Limited Marketing Manager, Maryanne Tom said as a responsible corporate citizen, they will adhere to the government’s regulations and protocols surrounding events during COVID-19 and there is no Fun Run event because everyone’s safety is paramount.

Cash prizes for consumers

Through four promotions the company has collectively given away K1.9 million.

Total promotions include K500,000 in the “Win a Share” promotion, then K400,000 in the “Bikpela Cash Giveaway” and the recent “Winim School Fee” promotions.

Trukai Industries’ brand manager, Casey Kwasam, says with COVID-19 heavily impacting the community, Trukai wanted to give something back to loyal consumers.

This time around Trukai is giving away more than half a million kina in the “Lukluk insait na Win” promotion.

Rice donated to hospitals

Port Moresby General Hospital, ANGAU Memorial Provincial Hospital, Goroka and Mt Hagen hospitals all received a tonne of rice each.

The company’s marketing manager, Maryanne Tom, said the donation is part of the company’s corporate responsibility.

“Despite these challenging times, we are happy that as a business we are able to continue our community programs in giving back to the communities in which we live and operate in,” she said.

Trukai Industries started supporting PMGH with monthly rice donations in April of 2020, during the first lockdown.

K10,000 for Life PNG Care

The charity organisation was presented with K10,000 from Trukai Industries as part of their ‘mama’s’ donation for being the winner of the 2019 Trukai Community Award Winner from this year’s Westpac Outstanding Women (WOW) awards.

Freda Yakio Pake is the wife of Collin Pake, the founder of Life PNG Care. Freda is referred to as their mama and teacher.

60 bags of rice for medical ship

A total of 60 bags of Trukai 10kg and Natural Brown rice  were donated to the YWAM team who were at the Motukea port two weeks ago before going out to their outreach in Central Province.

The rice will be used to provision the ship where they have volunteers assisting as doctors, nurses, dentists with outreaches to the far-flung areas of PNG to deliver medical services such as eye surgery, dental care, vaccination and general medicine.

Trukai Industries has been very supportive over the years with rice donation to the medical ship in Port Moresby and Lae recently.

Trukai expanding investment in local rice production

With the cooperation of the Chingwam Rice Growers Cooperative, Trukai will be establishing a 500-hectare rice plantation near Rangiampum initially for a rain fed crop to be established in 2017.

This is in addition to the existing 80-hectare site already producing rice for the cooperative, under the management of Trukai’s rice development team.

This site will be progressively expanded possibly up to 1,500-2,000 hectares over a number of seasons, although this will be subject to relevant agreements and climatic and soil evaluations.
