Monaco sack manager Thierry Henry after three months in charge

The Ligue 1 strugglers announced on Thursday he had been suspended, but BBC Sport understands that is merely procedural and that the France World Cup winner has already left the club.

Predecessor Leonardo Jardim is expected to replace Henry, just over three months after being fired himself.

The 2017 French champions are in the relegation zone after only five wins under Henry in all competitions.

Franck Passi, appointed as Henry's assistant on 20 December, will take training on Friday, the club said.

Arsenal to hold talks with Thierry Henry over manager's position

The club are undertaking an extensive process to determine Arsene Wenger's replacement at the helm, following the Frenchman's departure after 22-years in charge.

Sky Sports News understands that the leading candidate for the position is former midfielder Mikel Arteta.

Arteta spent the 2017/18 season as second in command to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, in what was a title-winning campaign with a record points haul.

Wenger eyes 'Henry-like' Mbappe

The 18-year-old made his Ligue 1 debut at 16 and has been a key figure in the Principality club's re-emergence at the top of French football this season, scoring six goals in 19 games.

Mbappe, a France U19 international, became the club's youngest goalscorer at 17 - a title previously held by Henry - and only signed a new deal with Monaco last year but Wenger, whose side play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge live on Sky Sports on Saturday, has admitted he is following the forward's development.
