Takale Tuna

Track legend to speak at awards

This will be the first time a local sports hero features as a guest speaker at the SP Sports Awards.

“The SPSA organising committee is delighted to invite a local talent this time, to address our live audience on EMTV and social media,” said SPSA chairperson, Nancy Gah.

“Takale Tuna was a track and field star back in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He made an impact in sports in Papua New Guinea, thus he is a fitting candidate to be the guest speaker.”

New van for Special Olympics PNG

President of Special Olympics PNG, Takale Tuna, thanked the firm for stepping in with this much-needed assistance as they have been stretching their limited resources to carry out their programs.

He said since its inception in 2012, the organisation has been conducting six programs where team members use their own resources to reach the wider community.

Brilliant performance by Special Olympics team!

The team scooped the award in the 7-a-side football competition on Sunday (May 7).

They won all their matches in pool B, coming out on top.

Excited president of Special Olympics PNG, Takale Tuna, said it was the first time for athletes with intellectual disabilities to compete in a team sport and to come out on top in their pool, which is a great achievement in itself.
