After going down 70-42 against the host nation Fiji yesterday in the Group B semi-finals playoffs, PNG retaliated in kind,crushing Guam in brilliant fashion to claim the Bronze medal in Pool B.

PNG scored  a 50 per cent of baskets early  to lead 16-4 with three minutes left in the first quarter while Guam made just 1-of-13 from the field (8 percent) besides being out-rebounded 13-5.

In the second quarter, Guam regrouped to close the margin and take the lead for the first time 27-26 but PNG overtook the lead  just before halftime to 32-28.

After losing all pool matches, Papua New Guinea was given a golden opportunity for a comeback when they take on host Fiji.

Despite a devastating 121-13 loss to New Zealand, PNG will stay focus banking on center Svetlana Arthur for the rebounds and Normalisa Dobunaba and Denienne Bray for their basket counts.

On the other end, the host nation will have the advantage of the crowd and moreover, using their height advantage in stealing rebounds and making drives.
