Students mostly among drug dealers

As per police reports, the hotspot areas where drug offenders are apprehended are at bus stops, betelnut markets and in the settlements.

The records also stated that within a week, more than five people are arrested for drug-related offenses such as consuming, selling, and having in their possession marijuana. 

Those that are arrested are brought to the police stations where they are interrogated and charged accordingly.

Students arrested for damaging bus

Madang Police alleged that after consuming liquor, the students damaged the bus while it was doing it`s normal PMV run along the North Coast highway. Madang police commander Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang said police were alerted of the incident by members of the public, who had blocked off the road at Sek, following the stoning.

Member of Mobile Squad 13 and the local police officers responded and arrested five suspects. PPC Rubiang said the suspects were then brought to Jomba police station detained, pending police investigation.

24 Students Arrested

They were also arrested for drinking and behaving in a disorderly manner in a public place.

Provincial Police Commander Chief Inspector Joseph Tabali said it was alleged that on Monday April 4th 2022, after consuming liquor until day break, the students went to a house at Kalabond and damaged properties. Police had them arrested and detained in the cell.

PPC Tabali said the damage done was very serious. The owner laid a formal complaint. Police are working on identifying the students who caused the damages so they can lay appropriate charges.
