Cobbo Backed to fill Centre Spot

Cobbo will get his first start at centre this year in Sunday's trial with North Queensland after coach Kevin Walters switched him from the wing to cover the position held by former Broncos star Herbie Farnworth.

Four-time premiership winner Renouf is regarded as the Broncos' greatest ever centre, a position from where he scored most of his club-record 142 tries.

"Selwyn can be a great success at centre so long as he owns the position," Renouf said.

Renouf: Pretenders or contenders - Cowboys must decide

The Cowboys, to their credit, have built a reputation as a team where success is expected.

I tipped them to finish in the top two. They need to start playing like that and they need to turn it around in the next month where they play the Panthers, Warriors, Bulldogs, Titans and Raiders. They can't afford to drop more than one of those games.

Paul Green mentioned it in his post-match press conference after the Melbourne loss that they are not doing the one-per-cent efforts that are needed.

Renouf fuming over Benji signing

Regarded as Brisbane's greatest centre, Renouf believes using Benji out of position will have no benefit for the club.

“It (signing Marshall) is a deadset joke. I honestly don’t know what Wayne is doing there,” Renouf told The Courier Mail.

“I can’t understand Wayne’s decisions and where the club is going.

“Benji is a six (five-eighth) or seven (halfback) and Wayne is talking about playing him as a centre. I don’t see any benefit to playing Benji Marshall at centre.
