Stanley Hotel and Suites

FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup trophy unveiled

The historical event was officiated by Sports Minister, Justin Tkatchenko, Toursim Minister, Tobias Kulang, President of the Oceania Football Confederation, David Chung and FIFA Head of Women’s Competitions, Tatjana Haenni.

Members of the 15 teams that are coming to PNG were present to witness the unveiling.

As well as the prestigious Trophy that goes with the title, this trophy is special for Papua New Guinea because it has “FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Papua New Guinea 2016” engraved on the small metal plate.

Countdown to first-ever PNGFW runway begins!

In a few hours’ time, seven dynamic, young and upcoming designers will showcase their clothing line tonight at the Stanley Hotel and Suites.

The three-year journey for PNG Fashion Week is now a reality and the beginning of an even longer journey for PNG’s fashion industry.

As highlighted by PNGFW director Janet Sios, PNG has a thousand reasons to offer to the fashion and garment industry market with our tribal trend designs.

PNG Fashion Week launches official website

The website will be in full swing in time for the fashion runway this Saturday, August 20.

The runway event will be featured on the website, showcasing to the world the designs that will go onto the runway.

Ultimately, the website stands to serve the purpose of online marketing, which director Janet Sios says, has been identified as an important platform, over the workshop period.

She says the website will be used to introduce PNG designers and their respective brands and interact with interested buyers.

New hotel predicted to steal the show

The event and the venue are both new kids in their respective blocks, and with as much interest expressed for PNGFW, many will use this opportunity to see the Stanley Hotel and Suites.

PNGFW director, Janet Sios, last week during a media conference even admitted this to the general manager, Geoff Haigh.

“We’ve spoken to a lot of people and they’re coming to this event because they’re interested to see your hotel.”

This may in fact be the first big local event to be staged in the new hotel.

PNG Fashion Week theme – ‘Tribal Eclectic’

The desire here is to bring different aspects of the PNG culture on the runway that will go on to attract international recognition.

The event will feature seven dynamic, young and upcoming designers, who will use this platform to launch their brands, and embark down a new journey for the first time ever.

The event will start with a three-day workshop at Holiday Inn from August 17 – 19.

Click-TV to partner PNG Fashion Week

The one year old television station in PNG teamed up with the committee only last week, for a three year contract.

Announcing the partnership yesterday at the newly built Stanley Hotel and Suites, Ruth Kekedo of Click TV said this move is to promote PNG culture.

“This is a wonderful synergy to provide a good platform for PNG to promote our culture and that’s one thing that Click- TV embraces – the promotion of PNG culture,” Kekedo said.
